Who is Alexa Ronngren?
I am an Brazilian-American with over 17 years of sales and marketing experience, who studied Speech Communications, and has a BS in Business Marketing. I've lived in over a dozen countries on four continents (and counting). I've worked with multinationals and with small companies expanding into foreign territories. But I'll start at the beginning. My first "real" job was as an insurance agent for Combined Insurance Company of America. This door-to-door sales position provided me with excellent sales training and a keen understanding of what it feels like to be on the front lines of the sales process. I spent the next five years selling various products and services, from insurance to copiers to long-distance telephone services. All that change meant I received great sales training, but as soon as I was building up my client base, another shiny new job offer would come my way.
The Turning Point
By 1995, I starting to feel "burned out" with selling. When I heard of a position as an executive assistant at a small business looking to expand into Latin America, I saw it as my chance to switch career paths. As I had lived in Brazil and Mexico as a child, I could speak Spanish and Portuguese. This job offered me a chance to use my language skills and learn about business administration. It took three months to convince them to hire me, as I had no experience as a secretary or administrative assistant. The Vice President of Marketing in this small company, quickly noticed my sales skills and natural knack for marketing and mentored me. It was then that I first read a book that would change my life: Guerrilla Marketing, by Jay Conrad Levinson.Since then, I have had the good fortune to work under brilliant marketers at major corporations, such as Compaq Computers, and to transfer my skills to the SME (small and medium enterprise) sector. I've managed over a dozen virtual teams through more than 50 assignments.
My Business
In 2007, I decided to open
Aldeia Global Marketing.
This marketing consultancy is designed to help small businesses get expertise at a fraction of the cost of hiring in-house help.In order to add value to my clients, I took the
Guerrilla Marketing Coach certification course.
This increased my skills and knowledge about Guerrilla Marketing and lead to an opportunity of a lifetime - the opportunity to co-author a book with Jay Conrad Levinson himself! I'm wrapping up the book proposal for Global Guerrilla Marketing: Crossing borders & leaping over the cultural divide. Meanwhile, I am helping businesses just like yours accomplish more marketing with less money.
